Paris, known as the “city of lights”,  is  the capital of France and a popular travel destination.  Over 45 million tourists visit Paris per year. An architecturally rich metropolitan city with eighteenth century palaces and historical monuments, museums and avenues. Paris is a traveler’s dream with all its magnificent attractions, exquisite restaurants, elegant boutique style hotels and fashionable shopping.

You cannot go to Paris without seeing the breathtaking Eiffel Tower which stands at 1063  feet  (324 meters) high. It is an outstanding achievement, built in 1889, representing the pride of France .  It has spectacular views from every floor and people usually walk partly up and then take a lift for the rest of the way.

Paris is a tourist’s haven as it  provides endless shopping opporutunities. It’s worth every penny shopping for elegant fine jewelry,  perfumes, wine, cheese and antiques. Paris is also home to a large number cinemas, more than any European city, since film in Paris is a very popular art form.

There is always something to see and do in Paris in any season but if you want to see Paris at its picturesque best, then  visit in the Spring or Fall. The Summer is the busiest and warmest season, bustling with tourists. It’s easy to get around Paris with it’s exceptional public transport system. The underground metro system is extensive as it originates and extends from the center into five divided zones. Taxis are readily available and you can either hail one on the roadside or at a taxi stall.

Paris caters to all, whether its a honeymooning couple taking  a romantic boat cruise on the famous Seine River or  a family vacationing at the  popular Disneyland Paris.  For a vacation that you will ultimately enjoy and always remember, then Paris is the place to be.

This museum is not as big as the Louvre but is most loved by those who adore impressionist paintings. Around 2 million people visit it every year. It is located in a former railway station and holds a number of collection.

6. Arc De Triomphe

This is another historic landmark in Paris. It was build by Napolean in 1806 to commemorate his victories. The arc was not completed until 1836 when Louise Philippe was the ruler. People can also climb its top although the view is not as spectacular as that on top of the Eiffel Tower.

7. Notre Dame

It is one of the most must-see, spectacular and beautiful cathedrals all over the world. It is one of the city’s treasures that visitors can climb. On its north tower was where Quasimodo stood.

8. The Sorbonne and Latin Quarter

The Sorbonne University was founded in 1257. Its products include great thinkers like Simone de Beauvoir, Jean Paul Satre and Rene Descartes.

9. The Seine

A boat trip can complete the whole experience in Paris. The Seine offers a dramatic and historical scene for each bank. It is a romantic boat ride in the evening features the breathtaking water. An hour of trip will make you appreciate the city from another viewpoint.
